Thank You So Much! SMASH!

Thank you so much to everyone who supported us by buying our artwork at SMASH! (Sydney Manga and Anime Show) this Saturday!!! It was a really fun event, and we had a lot of good feedback from our customers. Animania is just three weeks away, so we hope to see lots of people there, too - for a big TWO DAY event.

For those of you who missed out on SMASH! here are some pictures of our stall and our merchandise. We were a bit annoyed that the badges we'd designed didn't make it in time - but they should be delivered sometime this week and will be here in plenty of time for Animania.

I think our stall was a success, because we got to meet so many inspiring people - both artists and fans - and also because we made steady sales through the day. This inspires us to try even harder to produce good work for next year.

Our stall, including some "Momoko" dolls that were our honorary sales staff.

Another view of our stall, with bookmarks, postcards and our 2009 calendar.

And this is what our stall in the Artist Circle looked like from a distance.

AN0020 - Tomoyo-chan (Uncovered)

Now that SMASH! is over, we're able to reveal the identity of our "hidden" girl, Tomoyo-chan. She was an exclusive picture created for the December (Christmas) page of our 2009 calendar, and we wanted to save her as a special surprise. Don't worry if you missed out at SMASH! though, because we'll be selling more of our calendars at Animania in Sydney, 23-24 August.

AN0013 Koi no Natsu

Just in time for SMASH!, we managed to do one more picture. This was actually going to be the second single cover for our "Ashita ne!" pop group, but when we cancelled this project we decided that the artwork was still worth using. Koi no Natsu means "Summer of Love".

AN0014 Two Girls

Probably the final picture we will be able to finish for SMASH! is Two Girls, also known as Yukino-chan and Karin-chan. This is also the last picture to feature in our 2009 calendar, which will be available at both SMASH! and Animania this year in limited numbers. This is a fun, happy picture with a very simple background ('cos we were in a hurry to finish!!!)

AN0024 Mai-chan Promo Shot #2

Hi again. Time to pick up work now on the Ashita Ne! pop group, which has been slow for a while due to all the other pictures we've been working on. Anyway, here's the second promotional shot of Mai-chan, from the group. We like the "rock girl" feel of this picture and think it's pretty cool. Please look forward to seeing more group illustrations soon...and also possibly a manga featuring these characters next year!!!

AN0009 Sumiko-chan

This cute picture probably takes the record for the picture we've been working on the longest! Sumiko-chan actually comes from one of the very first sketches we made for this project, way back in December last year. We've been working on the digital version of her for several months now, and she's finally ready!!! It's a quiet and peaceful picture, and we like it a lot.

AN0027 Four Girls

One of the most complex pictures we've done so far is "Four Girls". Man, we've been working on this one a long time..........but now it's finally done. The girls don't have separate names, sadly. But we really loved doing the weird angle, the lighting effect and shadows, and the hair colours.
